The Pirate AU Meme - slightly extended

Decide on your roles and play!
Threads of more than two are welcome and encouraged.

1.  Boarded:  Your ship has been boarded, and as captain you've been captured!  Better hope the other captain gives quarter.  Alternatively, it's a nice warm day for a swim.  That plank was made for walking.

2.  Victory:  You've captured another ship!  You knew those extra cannons would come in handy.  And let's hope they've got lots of swag!  Where's the captain? Are you the decent sort, or are you going to rub their face in it for a bit?

3.  Swab the decks:  You're a cabin boy!  It's a good thing you don't mind doing all the dirty work, right?  Anyway, the captain's calling; better see what they want.

4.  Marooned:  For a bit there you'd thought you were in Davy's Jones' grip, but somehow you've washed ashore with the driftwood.  As you stare dazedly up from the surf, you have questions.  Where are you?  And who's that already on the shore?

5.  Buried Treasure:  Sink me! You've really found the mother lode. . . but you're not the only one.  Who gets to take the treasure back to their ship?  Better make sure it's you.

6.  Rum:  Rum, everywhere.

7.  Swordfight:  It's that person you can't stand!  And they've taken your most valuable possession, that one of a kind thing you just can't live without!  Better get that trinket back before it and your nemesis are gone over the side forever.  Let's hear some swashes buckling.

8.  Mutiny:  The tack is full of maggots and this drinking water may as well have come from the gutter.  There's one person to blame for this, and you're here to make especially sure that they pay for it.  The captain does always seem to take the best treasure before everybody else.

9.  Kidnapping:  Don't they look rather peaceful, innocent even, sleeping so soundly there with their fancy nightclothes and pillows.  Brings a tear to your eye, it does.  Better take them aboard and send for a ransom.

10.  Take a Gamble:  Gotta spend your loot somehow, but it must have been the rum that had you bettin' everything at once!  You've lost to your hornswagglin' shipmate; what did you lose, and what will they make you do now?

11. Under the Sea:  You are now a Mermaid/Merman!  That sailor over there sure looks appealing; let's see if you can lure them in with your charms.  Don't forget that they can't breathe under water!  You do seem to always forget, don't you. . .

12.  Enemy from the Deep:  What was that?  Did you feel that?  An unseen enemy is about to take this ship swiftly to the bottom of the ocean.  Giant squid, enormous whales, sea serpents . . . hope you make it.

13.  The Doldrums:  Can you say cabin fever?  The sails haven't moved in weeks.  You're about seeing if your mates can relieve this awful boredom.  And hopefully find some food and water.  Don't squabble over it, now.

14.  The Brig:  Something you did has gotten you imprisoned in the very depths of this ship.  How long until you see your next meal?  When you see who put you here again, you'll make them pay.  Hold on, maybe there's someone else here too.

OR

Make up your own!  Arrrrr!

[ Ominous clouds blanket the sky, blocking out the sun that would have been most appreciated at this moment in time. Feeling the warmth of its rays and knowing that it still rises and falls to signify the day would greatly tell her if she's alive or in the locker like she had thought she would be. However, it's not the feeling of the sun that wakes her but the harsh tides that have began to roll in, salty waters splashing over her tired body at the shores.

For a moment she barely remembers what happened, the events of the night a blur in her hazy mind, yet after staring at nothing in particular and forcing herself to remember, it becomes a little clearer.

And with that clarity comes annoyance. ]

Blast it all!

[ She will make damn sure to return the favor of that scoundrel who dared to think he could take over her ship. Although she knows her crew to be clever, she wants to be the one to take the enemy's head for this. Just as soon as she figures out where she is.

Roxene sits up slowly, taking careful mind of the aches throughout her body from swimming with the currents and finding the closest land she had been able. For a time, she almost didn't make it, but the thought of gaining back her ship kept her on until she hit the sandy beach and promptly blacked out. It didn't matter where as long as she survives and considering the fact that she's breathing now shows that she did somehow. Though now how to get off... ]

[So maybe he wasn't the best pirate.]

[Not to say he wasn't a pirate, because he was! But he wasn't important in the larger scheme of things; a deckhand with a good approach to locks and a lot of charm on his side, both of which had been useful from time to time but--]

[Ventus...wasn't much of anything, really. A pretty face though, which is why one of his shipmates had thrown him overboard ("Better to the locker with you, boy, than the slave market"). How he'd even survived was a mystery, and he wasn't particularly grateful for it when he first awoke, promptly rolling over to throw up all the sea water he'd inhaled until it petered off into a few miserable little dry heaves.]

[Okay, so he was alive.]

[Now what?]

[His answer comes in the form of a curse; a little croaky but certainly irritated. Ven doesn't catch the words, but he knows that voice, perking up immediately and looking around him. He can't see Roxene-- but that's her, right?! It's gotta be!]

[Staggering to his feet, Ventus cups his hands over his mouth, hesitating briefly before calling out.]

Captain?!

[ The one thing about her crew is that she knows every single person that rides on her ship, from her first mate to the lowly cabin boy that cleans her floors everyday. Every face has a name to them and she's made it a habit to learn them all, even if it's not needed for someone of her position. Being informed of who's on her ship and what they can do-- that all helps in the long run when they prepare for raids.

And suddenly hearing the voice of someone who sounds suspiciously like someone of the deck makes her strain her ears for another holler. She'd been sure that only she had been made to walk the plank, one last glance of instruction to her mate before meeting the cold waters. So why is it that another's somehow made it to these shores along with her when her crew should be relatively safe and plotting to steal Oblivion back?

Her only reason is that he did something foolish and got chucked off. Most of the crew may be clever but there will always be that one or two who will cause trouble of some sort. Whether it be because of duties or for that last lick of rum. Idiots.

Well. She supposes it's better to have someone she knows as opposed to someone she doesn't. ]

Aye! Who that be calling fer me here?

[ Maybe a little unwise to call out her position as who knows could be lurking about on the island, but at least she has her one shot and sword to make up for lack of secrecy. ]

Show yerself!

[A few moments later, and Ventus will come into view, trotting anxious towards the source of her voice and practically beaming once he spots her. So she's alive, then! Though...if Oblivion had been captured, it wasn't all that good.]

Captain! Uh-- it's Ventus, ma'am. [As if that wasn't obvious enough already. He keeps a respectful distance, looking like he's been rolling in the sand for the fun of it and shivering as the wind seems to go straight through damp clothes to chill already cold skin.]

[Perhaps it was lucky that Terra threw him overboard, after all. Two was better than one in this sort of situation; they could help each other out. Lord knows where his own gun had gotten to, but his sword is strapped firmly to his side, providing further security against whatever else may be located on the island.]

Not a good day for a swim, captain.

[ Ah. It's the blond one that her first mate had once joked could be her if she had been born male. And true that they did share the same coloring; however, she doesn't ever remembering meeting before his arrival on her ship, not even in her life before the sea.

Either way, Roxene recognizes him and glad that he's at least one of the helpful ones of her crew, respectful as well for a bloody pirate. Then again, the same could have been said about her once with her cultured tones and proper words that still slips out every once in a while. But she has dedicated her life to the sea, to the feeling of freedom and she'd be damned before going back to the life she once lived. Though it makes her wonder where he originally comes from.

She scoffs a little at his words. ]

Apparently someone thought it was a fine day for one.

[ There's a tinge of resentment in her voice and considering her ship had been stolen from her, she can't be blamed for it.

Giving him a glance over, she's a little surprised that he's in one piece. ]

Seems like you made it out alright.

[He's not as rough around the edges as some of the other pirates; knowing Ventus, he never will be. But at the moment it could be considered lack of experience; he's barely been part of the crew for a year, and yet is probably almost startlingly loyal.]

[Not many ships would be so accommodating to someone with... well, no experience at all. He hadn't exactly been Roxene's choice; hiring was left up to her first mate, but he'd been welcomed all the same and fights were rare and few between. He hadn't even been hazed for very long; newbie he may still be, but he just didn't react to those sort of things. He did his job and then some.]

[If he wasn't a short little blond thing, he probably would've been respected.]

A bleeder if there ever was one, ma'am. [His voice is agreeable and mild; you wouldn't have even guessed that he was titling the traitor as shark food. Still, there were worse fates the captain could consider imposing than cutting someone's leg and dropping them off in shark infested waters.]

A little roughed up, captain; but I'm lucky. [An easy going shrug, before he looks up at the sky.] The beach is rather wide for a small island, captain. We might find it a little longer to the west... but first--

We might want to keep our heads down, until the weather passes. [Storms in the tropics could be downright violent, when they had a mind for it. As much as Ventus wanted to check for some kind of village along the coastline, safety first.]

[Or at least, captain's orders first. If she wants to run around in torrential rain, he'd never be able to let her go off by herself.]

[ There may be a hint of amusement, a twitch to her lips at his jab but it doesn't fully show as she eases herself off the sands to stand with him. As much as she would rather spend another moment on the beach to rest her body, she knows that he's right about the rains and it wouldn't be a good idea to stay there while it passes through. It's downright dangerous while on ship at sea; but it's a wish to underworld while on a small remote island in the middle of the seas. At least with a ship there's still a chance, marooned on an island there's a small one if they can find shelter. And knowing that they'll remain here for some time, it's probably best to find some place to stay before a way out can be figured.

Roxene glances to him, giving him a mental nod of respect for his insight though she's long thought about it before. However, the fact that he's managed despite being a little green makes her realize that he's more capable than swabbing decks and tying sails. In fact, the only reason he's caught her eye in the first place is because of her want to know a name and his hair color. Not to mention the barbs from the first mate.

He's new, but better than most who've been in his position. ]

Aye, best be looking fer some ways of shelter before figuring anything else out.

[ Looking beyond the sandy shores and past the tree line, she wonders what else this little island holds and more than anything, just how small it actually is. There's a good chance that all they'll have are the trees to protect them from the storms. But if luck's on the boy's side, then maybe there's a something much sturdier that can hold it's ground and house them for the time being.

A glance at the skies shows that they may have enough time before the pouring begins. ]

Should look to see about some food as well. Don't know when we'll get the chance before the rain starts.

[ Whatever they find, hopefully it's something decent. ]
